Let's help Wayuu women in need during the COVID19 stay-home time!
I deeply admire the women behind our hand-crocheted Bohemian Bags !
These beautiful bags are handcrafted by indigenous Wayuu women, who have been taught the art of crocheting, at a very early age, as part of their traditions and legacy. These amazing and hard-working women, live in a desert in La Guajira, Colombia, facing a lot of challenges and needs.
Current COVID-19 Situation
It’s been very difficult for most Wayuu communities to sell their bags during the last few weeks due to the COVID-19 lockdowns. Their sources of income are selling their bags to local shops and tourism, and they both have been dramatically affected by the current situation. Some of them are now asking for food in exchange of a bag! We want to help them now more than ever starting with the women who make our Colorful Crochet Bags and other Colorful Accessories
How to help during this difficult time?
We would love to be able to help the 21 families who make our bags, and hopefully many more!
We will donate essential groceries to one family for every order of $75+ this week.
This is an example of a $20 worth of essential groceries to be included per family.
We are making sure that every family will receive the groceries at home and we will be sharing pictures in a future post here and in our @Colorful_4U Instagram feed and stories.
“At the end of the day it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished… it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.” ― Denzel Washington
